Microblading is a permanent makeup procedure that involves a manual tattooing technique that creates ultra-fine hair strokes on the eyebrows. It’s the best way to improve your brow shape, fullness, thickness, and color. No more anxiety using pencils and powders. Just your perfect brows – all day, every day. Now you can see why everyone is obsessed with this brow treatment!
The typical cost for a Microblading procedure is between $500-$600
A Microblading procedure should include two sessions. The first session takes about two hours (give or take) and includes brow shaping, brow mapping, and the initial Microblading. The second session is called the Color Boost and it takes place four to six weeks after the first session. The Color Boost session takes about 60 minutes.
Microblading is for adults, 18-80 years old. It is ideal for those who want natural-looking brows, regardless of the actual amount of hair they have present. Microblading is great for active people who want the convenience of 24-hour beauty and the confidence to wake up and wear minimal makeup. Others who have enjoyed Microblading are sensitive to makeup, or tired of penciling in their brows, or no longer want to guess their correct color while investing in additional products.
Microblading is heavily reliant on your skin being healthy, strong, and calm. Unfortunately, pre-existing medical and skin conditions can compromise the effectiveness of Microblading. For example, Microblading is not recommended for those who are pregnant or nursing, diabetic, and those with blood disorders as it can put you at risk. Medications can also be a deciding factor on whether or not Microblading is a good fit for you. As an example, Accutane/Retin-A users have altered skin and after Microblading may not heal properly.<br>
It is recommended to wait at least 1 year after Accutane and Retinol/ Vitamin A users should discontinue use one month prior to the procedure. Blood pressure medications can cause the healing process to be prolonged and it can take more than two Microblading sessions to achieve desired results. In this case, a third follow-up session might be necessary. Just take note some medications or auto-immune, skin and medical conditions can cause prolonged healing and less pigment retention leading to more appointments to achieve desired results. If you are unsure if you are a good candidate for Microblading, please contact us to discuss your options and we’ll come up with a plan that is best for you.
Asymmetrical eyebrows, thin or faded eyebrows, spots where brow hair is missing or brows missing the “tail” end, brows that have too much space between them, medical reasons (e.g. alopecia, trichotillomania, chemotherapy &, etc.) or undesirable shape caused by plucking or waxing.
Microblading lasts 1-2 years. Some things that can affect longevity are aftercare, skincare routine, genetics, and environmental factors. But don’t worry, you can touch up your brows with a color boost every 6-12 months.
People who have undergone the Microblading procedure acknowledge mild discomfort that’s equivalent to the slow tweezing of hair or a sunburn. Brows by Mary K uses two types of numbing creams to minimize any discomfort.
The popularity of Microblading is exploding and technicians are popping up everywhere. Many of these technicians don’t have any skincare or makeup experience. Choosing an experienced professional is important. Mary K is certified by Phi Company, an industry leader in Microblading services.
The best time to schedule Microblading is when you have a few weeks of time you can allow your brows to enter through the healing process. Healing time is broken up into two weeks to surface heal (lightly scab and shed) and two more weeks to get your final results from the first session (brows fade and bounce back). Typically, in about 4 weeks, Microbladed brows are considered fully healed. So it is best to not schedule your appointment around any special events as makeup is not recommended on the brow area while healing. Also being cautious around anything that could compromise your brows as they need to stay clean and dry.
